Feedback:

Do not do business with this company! They are extremely unprofessional and totalitarian to deal with. After having the same mortgage with them for over 15 years, they leave a voicemail, out of the blue, one day last month and demand proof of insurance. This is the first time that they've requested updated insurance docs or at least, the first I've heard about it. Although I was swamped at work, I contacted my insurance broker right away and asked for the proper form to send onto the mortgage lender for proof of insurance. I turned their request around within a day. They even sent an e-mail confirming they've received it. Next week I get a letter advising me that FN is going to withdraw $150 for insurance they've added to my property and then an additional $40 every month thereafter for admin fees. I called and ask what the heck that's about...since I've already provided proof of insurance. The rep on the phone assures me that it was a mistake as the docs proving i have insurance have been filed and not to worry. Then two weeks later they withdraw almost $200 from my account without my authorization. I call to balk about the unlawful withdrawal and sent docs in weeks earlier. They could not even explain why they took the withdrawal as they did not have a record of it and informed me that if I wanted the money back, I would need provide banking records showing the withdrawal, a running tally of my banking balance, details of overdraft protection, yada, yada, yada. So, basically they have no record of the money they unlawfully took from my bank account and are going to make me jump through hoops to get it back. Nice way to treat a customer after 15 years. It should not even be legal to ask for somebody's banking records. I told them that my running bank balance was NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS! Suffice it to say, once my mortgage term ends with this hack institution, I will no longer be doing business with them. Of course, I've been advised by them that switching mortgage lenders is going to cost me $300 for more nonsense admin fees. That's $100 more than the going rate. I informed them that I charge admin fees of $100 for unlawful withdrawals from my account. Do you think I’ll ever get payment from them for that? Ha! So take my advice, and don't do business with this terrible company.

***UPDATE***After receiving a message from the customer care department, I sent an email to follow up on my concerns and experience. I received a call and the lady I spoke with was lovely and gave me some hope for the company. She helped me get what was needed and said they will be following up with the original Rep I spoke with. ***********************I will never work with them again for residential or commercial. Everything is fine until you need something. No customer service in the customer service department. A for letter word comes to mind to describe the lady I spoke with. $75 for a reprint of each statement?! I can't access my old account online because they closed it the second I sold my home and paid it off so I'm screwed paying the $75...sorry $225 because I need three years. And they don't save you any money if you just have it emailed. It will take them 10 minutes to find and print all three and send in an email. I'd pay $75 for all three but $75 each is purely a cash grab. Absolute rip off.I'll find another mortgage company for my next home and commercial purchases.

As a new hire I have had great experiences so far. The recruitment process involved a combination of group and one on one activities. The group activity helped break the ice and initiate discussion.

Feedback:

Terrible customer service. I have a mortgage with them, and by extension have their warranty. I submitted a small claim 2 weeks ago for my home. I was told I would get a call next day, and have not heard back. I called again, and sent an email to the two representatives, and have not heard back. I was told this mater would only take 2-3 business days. I am attempting to send another email, but doubtful to have this resolved in a timely manner, if ever.

Disappointing. I have a mortgage with them that I secured by using LA Mortgage in Burlington... however when I called to talk directly about my file , they refused to give me ANY information. I was told that they only discuss maters with the the broker but not the actual client. Frustrating Lesson learned☆ UPDATE ☆My apologies to First National. I was misunderstanding the process and now I've been made completely aware of their policies. After speaking to the team at LA mortgage .. I have I'm much better understanding. And I do have full confidence in LA mortgage and they have 100% confidence in First National.I will definitely continue to do business with First National as they were offering us the very best rate amongst all the lenders

Feedback:

Hands down one of the best lenders out there. A+ customer service.

I’ve been a customer of first National for almost 15 years and I’ve always received competitive rates and great customer service. I also found the app easy to use and great for self service. We recently paid our mortgage and received a very unexpected gift....a very nice touch! I won’t spoil the surprise for anyone else coming close to this milestone but want to say thank you to first National for the thoughtful gift to help us celebrate our milestone.

Absolute nightmare to deal with ..... their customer service is pretty much non existent if you have any concerns. I could have qualified for a forgivable loan, had the bank updated my banking information - which I had to resend twice and talk on the phone for hours and email .... to no avail. No one did their job and I lost $10,000 to upgrade my house. Then when you think the worst is over they tell me I have no insurance .... which my lawyer had already sent them the month previous. My lawyer called and said the right hand has no idea what the left is doing. Very unorganized and unprofessional. If you can get a mortgage somewhere else - I would because if anything comes up don't expect any help of any kind considering they can't even get the basics of organization - they cannot help you.

Feedback:

No words to describe the service. If I could give it a ZERO/or MINUS I would. Do not setup Mortgage with this institution!!! They do not know what they are doing.I wish I was smarter and read these reviews before I initiated a mortgage agreement. Trusting my mortgage broker to provide good advice on institution choice/renewal rate, I did not look elsewhere. Our financial standing was in perfect order (being the perfect customer as my old bank stated) and our term was ending. The whole debacle started last December when we locked in for 3 months. The agreement was signed between us and this bank sometime in January, promising to offer us the rate starting March 8th, with the rate of 2.99%. The date came around and passed. I asked my broker what is the update? She states to wait, everything should be in order. Close to a month passes and I tell my broker that I still haven’t heard a word. She calls in and finds out that my agreement was CANCELLED. I wanted to blow up, after all the effort, and the loss. I asked them for an explanation, but they gave my broker “elementary” excuses. What kind of “amateur” institution is this:1. Cancel your agreement without notice or explanation after everything is signed and agreed upon. Any professional business would have the professional due diligence of notifying the customer before they do it. Funny enough in their agreement they even ask a client to provide written notice if they are to cancel within 30 days.2. I asked my broker to deal with a more knowledgeable representative after the fact, but they couldn’t fix their mistake. They come back and offered a new deal a bit higher rate and stated that I would need to pay other legal fees with them. 3. In the past 3 months they searched me inside and out for different documents, employment, income, Equifax, referral letters, current bank mortgage agreement (RBC) on multiple occasions. So therefore I dedicated my commitment and effort to them for 4 months, only to find out that I need to search for a new bank or renew with my own, now when the interest rate is much higher. So if you are reading this, and previous reviews you should see that you need to stay away. To think that I was going to pay them almost 40,000$ on a platter just to service for mortgage for 5 years. What a joke!Petty Professionalism

Excellent customer service & competitive rates. I've been with FN for 9 years now & I've had nothing but positive experience with them. Everything I need is accessible via my mortgage account. Very easy & acessible
