Feedback:
Stay as far away from this organization as possible. The owner of this company is not honest. He was the Director of a non-profit association who is now very far in debt. I personally lost over $60K from his lack of honesty. In addition, many other small businesses suffered because of his promises in writing he did not keep. Keep your eyes wide open if you decide to do business with Lucid's owner, Jeff MC.

I’ve known Jeff McElyea and his Lucid Business Strategies for more than twelve years. In those years I’ve seen, and experienced, McElyea’s approach toward business consulting and marketing from a unique point of view. My relationship with McElyea was not as a client, but as the vice-president of the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce, the sixth largest Chamber in Michigan. My experience with McElyea began when he approached me offing to help organize our newly formed business to business group networking program we named the Business Resource Alliance Group (BRAG). McElylea first revamped our member manual from just a listing of rules to a step by step guide in developing business to business networking as an active marketing tool. But his contributions to BRAG didn’t stop there. Over the years McElyea expanded the business development and marketing tools within the manual, developed a relationship marketing training program, not only for group members but groups leaders as well. Through McElyea’s knowledge and skills he took BRAG from just another Chamber of Commerce program to one of the most respected networking programs in the state. We have a saying about our BRAG program, “Often copied, but never duplicated,” and that’s directly because of McElyea. Besides BRAG I saw McElyea’s interactions with his clients. Whether the business was large or small they always got his undivided attention. For McElyea, it wasn’t about the money as much as helping businesses get on the right track. Even if a small start-up couldn’t afford his fees he didn’t refuse them his knowledge; he was always there to help them. McElyea is extremely honest with prospective business clients, he tells them like it is. And sometime they didn’t like what they hear and become mad; Jeff would rather they be mad than to take advantage of them. You truly don’t often find that quality in consults. Over my career I’ve met many, many professional people, and very few have become a deep personal friend of mine. Jeff is one of those few.

We Hired Lucid to build a website and launch a marketing platform for our business in April of 2014. Our original contract said the terms and conditions would be finished within 60 days. We were to pay a deposit to get the job started, and pay the balance of job upon completion. To make a very long, drawn out story short, Lucid failed on several levels to meet all the terms of the contract. It took almost a year before I finally decided to throw in the towel because they had still failed to complete their end of our contract. I hired a marketing expert to audit the website that was built and also all of the platforms that were in place. He graded the work that was done in relation to the contract that was in place an "F". Like in school, an F is very, very bad. Lucid gave me excuse after excuse, month after month on why things were behind and things were not done. They never one time admitted to me that things were not the way they were supposed to be until I officially terminated my contract with them. This is when Jeff told me, well we went in there a couple weeks ago and finally finished the remaining items( Mind you, this was almost 10 months into a 60 day projected timeline). Jeff refused to give us any money back and refused to admit any wrong doing. Not only did I pay Lucid $12,000 for a website, that by the way, I do not have any rights to, but I was also wrongfully advised into a contract with Hubspot for another $1,000 per month which I paid an additional $8,000 for. Lucid projected a huge revenue increase within the first year. We did not do a single dollar in business from anything Lucid created for us. Not only am I out almost $20,000 on this project, the amount of time lost that could have been used to hire a company that actually knew what we were doing and the potential revenue lost is unfathomable. Easily a six figure loss could be pinned to this experience. Not only do I still not own the website, I have to pay another company to build another one. Worst experience of my life.
