Update review. This company is one of those worst to do business with. I consistently have to help out other peers and to listen and laugh at how these people operate. This review is for HT Credit Card department and their customer service. I applied for the HT VISA and got declined. I found 2 potential reasons and got things corrected with Equifax. When I reapplied, HT simply never pulled my credit report with updated information, no 2nd check, no verification and a simple generic decline letter without proper explanation. When you contact them, they refuse discussing your matters and refuse letting you speak with anyone with authority/credit check. They simply provide you no reason why the rejection is made rather than a company's metric. When they do a hard check over Equifax, they use Equifax's metrics and it's a standard practice of the industry. They try referring to another company may approve me? well some companies use TransUnion so yes, definitely it's going to be different. For well known fact is that USA takes my business over a hard pull on Equifax Canada so all they of the reasons they try giving me are complete bs. Rather not dealing with this organization and encouraging other Canadians to reconsider..

Run, don’t just walk away from Home Trust if you can! A mortgage broker had chosen them years ago on my behalf as a company that was friendly towards the self-employed. When I decided to do some home renovations, because I was now getting steady contract work on top of self-employment income, and because my credit rating is very good, I tried to deal with them directly for the refinance. They had me locked in a closed mortgage. They initially offered me a higher interest rate than the already-high one I had – by almost 0.3%. I unintentionally called their bluff when I refused (I had a Plan B) and all of a sudden they offered me a rate almost a full percent lower! Another issue was trying to get my renewal agent, Saba, to do anything in a timely fashion. It would be days before she’d reply to my emails. She also kept asking questions to which I’d provided the answers, over & over – I can only guess she didn’t bother to look at the documents I sent at her request. I’ve never encountered anything like it. It wasn’t until I involved a mortgage broker that things got moving a bit faster. He had me send him documentation and didn’t ask for ½ of what Saba had. He also informed me that if they hadn’t got me locked in to the mortgage he could have gotten me a much better deal elsewhere– there was no way they should have tried to increase my interest rate with my credit rating & based on my income from the past 3 years. I 1st contacted Home Trust about the refinancing early May and I finally signed the paper at my lawyer’s office mid-July! When the term is up – goodbye and good riddance to Home Trust!!

Worse and most incompentin service I have ever had from a financial institution. Applied for their visa card and had to call after 2 months. They said they will process it in a month. I called a month later and now they say it never got processed. They had to nerve to tell to apply online again because it might be faster! If service is this bad I don't want a card from them. God knows what will happen if I had a problem with my visa and needed support.

Waiting time for Visa is long but is ok to me. I have card with no overseas transaction fee, no chip for contact-less pay and I have no availability to change my pin. I can use only which I received by mail from Home Trust. No created zip code from my postal code. You need this in some states if you want pay for gas on gas station, I hope they fix this. Low knowledge of customer service if you ask about this zip code problem.

I like this company because it helps you when you need it. Don’t complain about high fees and interest rates because nobody has forced you to take it. They offer it to you and if you don’t like it you can walk away. I don’t believe that their fees are too high and neither are their rates. It’s very manageable. I don’t understand people saying get ready to bleed?If they think the rates/fees are high why didn’t they just go to a bank? Thx Home Trust for being their when I needed you. Even if the fees/rates are a bit higher, it was worth it in the long run.
