Feedback:

VFI and Jim Merchant have been our “go to” for Veterans since we opened Senior Helpers of Westford Massachusetts in 2009. Every family we’ve referred to VFI has given us favorable feedback on the assistance from your company – even if they did not qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance Benefit. The team at Veterans Financial Inc. provides a much needed service for our Vets in an informed and professional way – thank you for all you do!

Feedback:

I contacted this company from a flyer I received at a nursing home my father is staying at. They told me about their services and asked if my father was a veteran, his discharge status, etc. and that if he served in the military and he met certain conditions, he could get the VA to pay for his nursing home care or at least part of it. They needed a copy of his discharge paperwork as he was in the military back in the 1940s. I did not have this and they instructed me to call the VA to obtain this. They asked how much he had in assets such as in bank accounts, stocks, etc. He has substantial assets and once I told them how much he had, the lady seemed eager to help. I asked them how Veterans Financial makes their money since they said I would not have to pay them and the fact they are not a government agency but the lady was very evasive about it and would not say. Couldn't figure out how they made money in order to stay in business so finally gave up asking her about this.I spent literally hours consisting of being on the phone with VA and completing and mailing necessary forms to them in order to get his discharge paperwork. Veterans Financial also required copies all his financial statements, social security information, pension paperwork, bank statements, stock information, retirement accounts, etc. and I spent so much time getting all this together that I lost track of how many hours it took. Finally I faxed all this to them and then when his discharge information finally came back from the VA, I sent this also. About a month had gone by from the time I initially contacted them until had all the information sent to them. Finally the lady called me and said she had reviewed everything and it looked good and she felt they could get some financial assistance from the VA to pay for my father's nursing home care. Then she dropped the bombshell on me....I had to invest all my fathers money with them in order for them to help us! That was the catch that she refused to tell me about up front. They invested it in an irrevocable trust so that the VA would not see the funds were in my father's name and make it appear he could not afford to pay for the nursing home care. I had no idea who these people were and sometimes when on the phone with this lady, I could actually hear a rooster crowing in the background so I assumed she was operating out of her house probably in the country.I was really upset with her for not disclosing this to me up front since had asked her several times about it. I told her I would never invest all my fathers money with them as they had deceived me by not disclosing this up front and felt I had been tricked. She got rude at this point when she found they were not going to get my father's money and I eventually hung-up on her. She probably works on a commission. What else were they not disclosing? I think about all the hours Ihad wasted in getting everything to them and the time spent in dealing with the VA. Now they have a copy of all my father's financial information so am very concerned about this. Veterans beware of this company as they want all of your money invested with them and it is nothing but a scam. I just found that there is a warning from the AARP about these type of companies. If you Google "Taking Aim at Old Soldiers by AARP" you can read the article.

Feedback:

What an amazing organization!! It looked like I would have to spend hundreds of dollars to get help completing the application for Aid and Attendance properly. But then I somehow found Veterans Financial. Their purpose and approach is unbelievable: that veterans deserve their benefits and it should be as easy and straightforward for them as possible – without charge. Everyone with whom I spoke was terrific – knowledgeable, caring, and thorough! When I was ready with my application packet, Maryanne walked me through the forms field by field to make sure my responses were complete and appropriate. She even helped me write a letter for expedited processing due to the veteran’s age. Here’s a tip… Two weeks after the Veterans Administration received the application packet, I called the VA and was told the estimated completion would be almost 4 to 5 months later. I expressed my concern about my veteran's advanced age, and the VA rep sent the Pension Center a request to expedite the file. Veterans aged 85 and up qualify for expediting. It’s worth the effort to make a follow up call. The decision was made exactly one week after my call. My veteran received his award letter ONE MONTH after the VA had received the packet! I am VERY grateful to Veterans Financial for all their help, support, expertise, and caring. Thank you for being there!

Patricia was the best! She helped me every step of the way. Unfortunately, my mom passed away several months ago, but I am forever grateful for the Veterans Financial organization.

Feedback:

Kate, you made my life easier for the assistance you gave in filing for VA benefits. For six months I collected enough to ease the financial burden by getting outside help. I will never forget the help you gave.Thank you and with gratitude,Anthony

The people at Veterans Financial Inc are fantastic. I can't say enough good things about the suggestions they gave me. I had heard horror stories about applying for VA benefits, but they made it so easy. My Mom and Dad were awarded aid and attendance benefits in 6 weeks. No charge, no product sale, no other solicitations. My family didn't have any money that needed financial planning. It didn't seem to matter. Thank You!

Feedback:

The staff at Veterans Financial, Inc. has been fantastic. We contacted them about helping my family learn about Veterans Benefits to help my Mom pay for her assisted living. We had heard about the Aid and Attendance benefit from the VA, but didn't know how it worked. They answer their phones with a live person, they put me on the phone with a knowledgeable person who was able to answer my questions, then when I called back to get more information they were totally willing to help. I kept saying "how much do I owe you?" The reply every time was, nothing. We ended up doing a final expense insurance policy to pay for Mom's funeral through them, so I guess they did make something off me, but I am certain that didn't have any impact as originally I said no, and their attitude towards me didn't change, which is why I brought it up to them on a subsequent call.Thank you Veterans Financial, your staff is great and you are providing a service that so many of us need.
