Been doing business with them since I was old enough to have a account. I live in ND now and still bank with them. I have gotten a few loans through them and they've been very helpful. Once in a while i will get a rude individual but that's been very rare. They watch my account closely. Ive been scammed and they've been helpful and on top of it notifying me when my account was suspicious. Great people

I have been using TruStar in Park Rapids since 2000, and it has been an excellent credit union. This review is NOT a reflection of the FCU overall, but of those who work on the phones in the service center. I'm writing this review because those I interacted with today were not at all helpful, were actually pretty rude, and extremely lacking in customer service skills. I called to change my very rarely used account, so that if a charge comes through and I don't have enough money in my account, the charge would be rejected. Until now, if I accidentally used my TruStar account (which I almost never use) the charge would go through and TruStar would cover the difference then also charge an overdraft fee. Because I made this mistake more than once and paid overdrafts multiple times, I wanted to change my account so that charges will be rejected, not honored, when I don't have money in my account. This is how I have my account set up at the credit union I use where I actually live.The woman I spoke to today, Pat, could not grasp this and kept telling me over and over that the charge would not be canceled, asked me over and over if I'd spoken to the company who had sent the charge, and even at one point told me to close my account altogether. No matter how many times I explained to her what I needed, she could not understand and was not patient or kind about it. I asked to speak to a manager, which she put me on hold for then did not put on the phone. I asked for a manager again and she transferred my call to Park Rapids where a very kind woman (not even a manager but a loan officer) listened to me explain what I needed one time, then told me she would make sure that this change was made to my account. So much undue stress and upset over such a small thing, just because the person working customer service couldn't understand how to actually provide the service. Disappointed in the TruStar service center, and I hope they hire some people who have customer service skills or at least train those who already work there not to be jerks to customers. I will be calling Park Rapids TruStar directly from now on.
