As a women-led business, ourselves, we were initially very excited to work with the NYC Small Business Services for an event for their Women Entrepreneurs division. We happily gave them extra time and attention and even discounted their overall rental rate and added extra services at no charge.Unfortunately their event went into 3 hours of overtime, a direct breach of contract, which resulted in spending money out of our own pocket to have staff remain on site to oversee the event breakdown and close the venue.After several unanswered emails and invoices, NYC Small Business Services' refused payment. Their overall unprofessionalism ultimately resulted in our company sending this matter to collections and incurring another fee on order to do so. We are very disheartened both by the subject of this complaint as well as the way it has been so poorly handled by NYC Small Businesses. We are most put off by the fact a small business that promotes women would treat a women-led small business with such a callous disregard for general business principles and practices in a direct opposition to their very own mission statement.
