As a self-employed provider of personal services, this was not the best option for me. If I called the office with questions or concerns, more often than not, my call would not be taken or returned. I'm assuming that my relatively small sales volume made it not worth their while to devote time and attention to my account. Now that I've discontinued my account with them, I'm hearing from them more than ever!The PCI compliance requirement took me by surprise when it cropped up, and I began to be "reminded" by some third-party company that I knew nothing of. The new merchant services provider I'm using now assumes the role of merchant in all transactions, and so, I don't need to go through the annual chore of the PCI compliance questionnaire. Although their nominal discount rate is higher than MJM's, it is the only charge applied, and so I believe that in effect, I'm now paying just over half as much for merchant services as I was with MJM. Equipment costs are minimal, since I'm using card readers that work with my cell phone and/or my desktop computer. I don't need to plug into a land line. And, the discount rate doesn't vary with sales volume. I cannot expect any support from them to speak of, but in this respect, I'm no worse off than I was with MJM.
