Overall Feedback:
This company will scam you. A few months ago, I had purchased one year of service from Mcafee for $39 by directly calling their consumer telephone line. Their tech person cleaned up my computer and installed their security software. One week later, I had a question regarding my computer and called what I thought I was the Mcafee customer service number. Somehow I unintentionally connected with a different tech company. I didn't know it at the time, but eventually, through reverse phone ID, I found the company's name is Geek Squares. Both Mcafee and Geek Squares are out of the Atlanta, GA area, and the person on the other end made it seem that this company was affiliated with Mcafee and told me that for $179 they would remove the malware he insisted was on my computer, and I would also benefit from additional technical support of two years for five devices. I explained that I was just charged $39 by Mcafee one week earlier for one year of service. This tech person (from Geek Squares) assured me that I would get a refund for the earlier charge. Months later I got a call from a tech rep with an Atlanta phone number ID asking me to check on my computer. This is when I started noticing something very fishy was going on. They asked for access to my computer which made me very nervous and it sounded like a scam since out-of-the-blue, a complete stranger was asking to have access to my computer. This prompted me to I check my records to see if Mcafee ever gave me the refund that the tech rep assured I would receive. I found out I never got the refund. Next, I called Mcafee and they told me it seemed I had been scammed by Geek Squares and offered to do a diagnostic test on my computer to make sure everything was okay. I was told by the person at Mcafee that Geek Squares made it seem like there was a problem with my computer as an excuse to charge me money when there was no problem at all. Later, I kept getting calls from a tech rep at Geek Squares telling me that he had a special software that alerted him that my computer had malware on it and he asked if he could get assess to my computer. I always told him that he could absolutely not have access to my computer, and I later made a couple of phone calls to Geek Squares' number to tell them I knew they scammed me. I mentioned how I never got a receipt or written agreement for what the $179 bought me. I was transferred to an extremely rude, illogical and unprofessional "supervisor" who informed me I purchased one year of service instead of the two years of service which was discussed during the original phone call by the tech rep. I asked to have the receipt for the service I purchased months earlier emailed to me since I never received a copy of one, and the supervisor had the audacity to tell me that their company believes word of mouth is a better way to work than to have the confirmation of paperwork!!! He also told me it was impossible for them to email me a receipt which is ludicrous in this day and age. The conversation I had with the "supervisor" was completely frustrating and ridiculous. It confirmed that Geek Squares is a very shady company void of customer service. They scam people. This "supervisor" proved this company is horrible, deceitful, untrustworthy, and it is made up of con artists who convince you that there is a problem on your computer when there isn't. I would never trust them with my computer because their service is questionable and I would never feel comfortable using it. Their charge of $179 for two years of service, which the supervisor conveniently changed to one year of service, was a waste of money, and the work they initially said my computer needed was unnecessary according to the people at Mcafee. Geek Squares practices fraud and took $179 from me. In addition, all the people on the phone speak with very thick accents which you can barely understand making it nearly impossible to communicate. Do not trust Geek Squares with your computer. Stay far, far away from them. They proved themselves to be very crooked.
