Gate and road closures everywhere. No clear signage. If you are not from here, easy to get lost around base. Used Google maps and was guided to Ft. Benning road entrance and found it closed while returning my recruit on time after his day leave with his family making him 22 minutes late. As A graduate of NTC Great Lakes and father of A graduate of Ft. Jackson SC, I have to admit that Ft. Benning GA needs to get it's act together when it comes to planning clear routes of entry for families visiting from out of state. Furthermore, after Having to park my new vehicle in an unmowed muddy field filled with rocks and having to watch women and children navigate up to 25 yards through weeds half A foot high. I realized early in the day that those who planned this event really did not take the time to pay attention to detail for all the hard work these fine recruits have endured over the past 14 weeks. They started the Blue cord event over A half hour late this morning. That being said, when I finally figured out on my own how to get on base after trying 3 ways, my son had to be barked at by an instructor in the parking lot in front of his mother and 2 year old brother as if their poor planning was his fault. Smh.......

Fort Benning is a wonderful post. I was a recruit and graduated from Infantry and Airborne Training at Fort Benning (Harmony Church). I retired 21 years of military service. I was stationed at Fort Benning as a single soldier. Married my wife overseas and stationed once again at Fort Benning. The base facilities provided all the necessities for my family. A beautiful post and community. Fort Benning is the #1 training post in the world. Atlanta Ga. The worlds most busy airport. The city of Atlanta has eateries of all cultures and plenty entertainment and things to do. Mountains to the North and the ocean to the South. The Home of the Infantry. Huraaaaaa!!!!

I just saw a Fort Benning Police Officer changing the tire of three teenaged males vehicle on the side of highway 280. I commend you Sir, thank you for service and sacrifices. I am sure you are a hero to those three men today! Be safe and best wishes to you and all your fellow soldiers.
